![]() I moved to Milton Keynes on 3rd November 1983. I decided to move because I needed a new start. My marriage had broken down in 1981, so after the divorce was finalised I need pastures new to rebuild. I swapped my house in Barnet with one on Heelands where I have lived ever since. My 2 daughters, Karen who was 9 and Christine who was nearly 16, moved with me. My son Tony who was 18 wanted to stay in Barnet.
This is Tony my son feeling very proud of him self. He has finally managed to land the job he has always wanted, which is becoming a fireman. He is a retained fireman station in Norfolk. He has passed his breathing apparatus training and is now doing trauma training to allow him to give on the scene first aid. The picture show two crews taking delivery of 90 bears to give out to children caught up in an incidents.
My daughter Christine was born on the 22nd November 1967. This part is bitter sweet as Christine lost her fight against breast cancer on 27th May 2004. That time period was very hard for her and her family but I was so proud of her and everyone who was involved. Although there always felt as if a big question mark hung over you, we concentrated on building a lot of happy memories. We all went to the Milton Keynes theatre to see shows and panto. We also went to the bowl to see Robbie Williams concert and a few months before her departure we all went to Knebworth to see Robbie. She has a daughter Sophie and a son Matthew. The picture shows her looking very happy and pretty. It is Sophie’s 1st birthday.
Karen is my youngest who was born on the 11th November 1974. For the first couple of years living at Milton Keynes Christine helped mother Karen. After that Karen brought herself up. I think she made a very good job of it.Karen works in catering she has been doing this job now for about 11 years. She has gone from being a GA to running a little unit. Karen has just got a little place of her own. This is a big change for both of us. Over the next week she will be house sitting for me, as I am going on holiday. Thank you very much Karen.
Sophie is my eldest granddaughter who is 19, she spent the first few year living in London and then later at Stevenage Herts. Sophie has finished a college course on child care, and has passed her driving test. She has recently managed to get a placement looking after some children.
Matt and Terri – Matt is my eldest grandson who is 14. He has lived most of his life in Stevenage Herts.Terri is my second granddaughter who is 15 she has spent most of her life living in Mundesley Norfolk. They both are coming to their last few years at school. Terri would like to train as a paramedic. I think Matt would like to study engineering.
Josh is my youngest grandson who is 8.His love is football and he is a very keen Barnet supporter. He recently came across with his mum and dad, so that he and his dad could go and watch Barnet play the Mk Dons. Unfortuneately Barnet lost. I do not see him as often as I would like, as they live a distance away.
Lucy is my youngest granddaughter. I have never met Lucy this I hope will happen one day and soon. There are 2 other people that are part of my family and they are Chris (Christine's partner) who done a marvellous job caring for Christine during her illness, and Julie (Tony's partner)who works very hard in her professional capacity as a nurse as well as dealing with the family. |
